"The holiday period started a peak export period for Chinese garlic"

"The Chinese garlic price has experienced significant fluctuations in the last few months. In the period before traders began to stock their refrigerated warehouses with garlic, the garlic price continued to rise. After traders stopped stocking their warehouses the garlic market weakened. The price continued to fall. However, the market showed signs of recovery in October. The price is climbing again." This is according to Kevin Li of Qingdao Sinonut Import and Export Co., Ltd.

"The market price is currently higher than in the same period in last year, but there is still some distance to go before the price reaches the highest point. The peak sales period of Chinese garlic takes place around Christmas and Chinese Spring Festival [25 January, 2020]. The export of Chinese garlic generally goes smoothly around the holidays. The overall volume of Chinese garlic in storage is quite large. we expect the price to fall in January next year. The price will return to lower levels after Spring Festival."

"We currently export most of our garlic to Indonesia. There are relatively many large garlic bulbs. The purchase price of garlic from storage is around 3.70 yuan [0.53 USD] per 0.5 kg. Chinese garlic competes with garlic from Brazil and Argentine in the international garlic market. The garlic production season in Argentine has already begun. We do not export a lot of garlic to South America. The export of Chinese garlic to the European market is more ideal."
