"One of the reasons for the price decline is yellow leaf disease"

"The price of bananas exported from the Philippines to China is relatively low"

Bananas from the Philippines are very popular in the Chinese market. Their sales volume grows every year and this year was no exception.

Ms. Liang of Xinyu Fruits Agricultural Corp recently shared her views on the current conditions in the Philippines banana market: "This year the production volume of bananas in the Philippines is smaller than last year. The main reason for this development is yellow leaf disease. Some banana plantations in the Philippines suffered from this disease, although our own plantations have been spared. We currently grow Cavendish bananas in our plantation. Furthermore, we have recently expanded our original plantation to make sure that our production volume provides a stable supply that meets the growing market demand for bananas. As for export, the current export price is around 5-6 USD per box, but the price shows a downward trend. One of the reasons for the low price of bananas is the relation between supply and demand. In the current banana market supply exceeds demand, which brings the price down."

Banana plantations in the Philippines can grow bananas all year long. However, the production volume changes during off season and peak season. "We are currently in the off season, but we still supply bananas. We mainly export bananas to China, Russia, and Korea. Among these countries, China remains the largest importer of bananas from the Philippines. Chinese market demand is particularly large between March and May. We have noticed that in recent years Chinese consumers have increasingly high standards, especially when it comes to product quality. However, this is not a problem for us because we have the capacity to satisfy the requirements for banana export to the Chinese market."

Xinyu Fruits Agricultural Corp has plantations distributed across the Philippines in Lupon, Banaybanay, and Mokayo. The company was established in 2015. The facilities include a packaging factory. The bananas are sold under their own brand "Xinyu". "We hope to export our bananas to an even greater number of countries. Furthermore, we are working hard to continue the expansion of our plantation, produce top-quality bananas, and strengthen our brand."
