How do Americans like their bananas?

Americans love their bananas. In fact, the average American consumes 28 pounds of bananas per year. But the real question is, how ripe is their ideal banana? YouGov discovered there is quite a disparity when it comes to banana ripeness preferences.

They found that 5% of respondents like their bananas mostly green; the majority (47%) like them yellow with a bit of green; 31% prefer solid yellow; and only 11% like them with brown spots.

When you break it down by generation, that’s when things get really interesting. A large majority of baby boomers like their bananas to be yellow with a bit of green (54%), with 28% preferring solid yellow. Meanwhile, millennials are neck-and-neck between yellow/green and solid yellow — 38% and 33%, respectively.
