Organics Unlimited looking forward to talking about its organic banana program

Organics Unlimited will be at booth number 681 to highlight its certified organic produce, eco-friendly growing practices and sustainability, along with sharing how banana purchases help communities through the GROW by Organics Unlimited social responsibility program at the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Fresh Summit Convention and Expo 2019 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif. from October 17-19, 2019.

The company says consumer demand continues to grow for organic produce that is fairly traded, supports small growers, is sustainably and ethically grown, but also contributes to positive social change.

“We look forward to exhibiting again this year at PMA Fresh Summit to share our vision of sustainability including growing organic bananas that are fairly traded and environmentally responsible farming practices as well as exciting new developments within our company,” said Mayra Velazquez de León, Organics Unlimited president and CEO. “Visitors to our booth will enjoy great giveaway items like magnetic toy monkeys, always a crowd favorite, and reusable natural fiber bags.”

Organics Unlimited grows certified organic bananas, as well as organic plantains and organic coconuts. All produce is grown in Colima and Michoacán, Mexico as well as Ecuador. The company works in close partnership with local small growers, supporting growers throughout the organic production process. Organics Unlimited says it incorporates sustainable practices throughout all its growing, harvesting, packing and shipping operations to protect the health of its workers and the environment.

Sales from the company’s GROW organic label banana have provided nearly $2 million in aid since 2005. For every box of GROW bananas sold, a percentage is earmarked for the GROW fund. These funds are used for youth educational programs, health clinics and dental and vision care in Mexico; clean water and early childhood education programs in Ecuador; disaster relief and environmental initiatives like long-term protection of the Arroyo Alamar watershed, which feeds into the San Diego-Tijuana region, from man made pollution.
