"We can put our name out to many retailers and potential customers"

The PMA Fresh Summit, which runs from October 17 - 19 this year in Anaheim, is such a large show that it provides many companies the opportunity to exhibit their produce and their brand to a broad scope of attendees. This is the case for SiCar Farms, the North American company that produces limes and other tropical produce. Jackie Carrillo of SiCar Farms, said the show is a fantastic opportunity to put its name out there.

"We really enjoy exhibiting at PMA because we have the opportunity to get closer to our customers and business partners and we can also put our name out to many retailers and other potential customers," she said, adding that the company will be displaying much of their produce. "Our main item is limes, so these will be at the booth, but we will display most of our other products as well, including pineapples, coconuts, dragon fruit, prickly pear and tomatoes."

Bee-Friendly
SiCar Farms said it has been making a huge push towards being a more environmentally-friendly producer. Aside from producing bio-repellents and converting one of its packing facilities in Mexico to solar energy, one of the other initiatives the company has taken is to invest in the "Bee-Friendly" certified program.

"We know of the importance of bees in our ecosystem - they are the symbol of our commitment to biodiversity," Carrillo explained. "With the Bee-Friendly program, we aim to have more bees in our fields across Mexico. We began this program this year and we will be pleased to share more information with visitors to our booth at PMA."

Expanded business also on agenda
This year, SiCar Farms expanded its facility in McAllen, Texas. According to the company, the new warehouse is double the size of the existing one and will be able to process three times the volume. It will also have more refrigerated loading docks as well as a new office space. Carrillo said there are also expansions in the work in distribution and sales.

"The 110,000 sq. ft facility in McAllen will triple our capacity," she shared. "The new warehouse will contain 24 loading docks - all refrigerated - as well as 12,000 sq. ft. of new office space. We are also increasing our fleet by bringing in more trucks. Our overall goal is to serve our customers better as well as to increase our business worldwide."

Visitors to the PMA Fresh Summit can visit SiCar Farms at Booth #866.
