Argentine authorities discover a shipment of cocaine hidden in rotten tomatoes

Salta's anti-narcotics security forces have uncovered a new method of transporting drugs and preventing them from being detected by police dogs: rotten tomatoes and lithium grease.

A truck loaded with both substances was stopped in a town of Oran by order of a federal judge. Inside it, authorities found 408 kilos of Bolivian cocaine. The truck had previously successfully passed a drug control, as the canine units used to discover drugs were unable to discover the narcotics. The drug was distributed in 16 boxes and consisted of 389 bricks.

The organization had also taken other extra precautions. They had wrapped the crates with cocaine in aluminum foil to avoid the scanners, and the truck driver was traveling with 100,000 pesos in cash to bribe officials in case he was discovered. The authorities arrested a fruit and vegetable entrepreneur from Colonia Santa Rosa (Salta), who is suspected of being the leader of the band.

According to the leads of the case, the drug's final destination was Europe. In principle, the organization arrested after the seizure of 408 kilos was responsible for all internal logistics and for importing the drug from Bolivia. However, another band could be in charge of the last phase of the trafficking.

According to the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, this is one of the biggest blows to cocaine trafficking.
