The soft-seed pomegranate boasts large, bright red fruit and thin skin. When nearly ripe, the fruit gradually turns from yellowish green to red. When fully ripe, the arils are dark red, like agates, very pleasing to the eye. The fruit has a sweet flavor and excellent quality, it ripens early and has good storage ability and large aril sizes. Due to the careful management of the growers and the strong promotion of local governments, the popularity of soft-seed pomegranate continues to rise. The sales price is also higher than expected, and the interest from buyers is generally high," said Ms. Niu. "The market price of soft-seed pomegranate last year was around 12 yuan/kg. This year, we expect early prices to skyrocket, and there is room for adjustment in the middle and late season. However, the overall price is moderate and reasonable, and has not been over-hyped."
