London Produce Show kicks off with Global Grape Summit

Yesterday the 6th edition of the London Produce Show opened at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane. This year the inaugural Global Grape Summit took place, with many interesting presentations and panel discussions.

At the summit changing production around the world was discussed, increasing supplies and extending seasons from traditional countries, as well as emerging supply from other regions in the world was on the agenda. New varieties were also a hot topic, are there too many new varieties? Will the consumer know the difference?

Alongside the Grape Summit there was a Food Service industry Conference which looked at ways in which technology is transforming the food service industry. There was also a focus on the eating and drinking out trends in the UK.

With the looming prospect of Brexit coming ever closer, there was an interesting seminar on Trading with the UK. Regulatory requirements were discussed as well as future challenges which may arise in trading with the UK, also how to respond to them.

The day concluded with the traditional cocktail evening, a chance to network and relax before tomorrow’s bust trade show and further presentations.

FreshPlaza will feature reports on the Global Grape Summit and photo reports on the cocktail evening and trade show.
