Chinese sugar snap and snow peas supply to Europe starts earlier and lasts longer

“Each year from April to June is the peak season for us to supply fresh sugar snaps and snow peas to Europe. The total output of sugar snap and snow pea this year is stable. The output rose a little bit compared with last year with an estimated 700 to 800 tons of total yield. However, the production volume of snow peas this year is relatively less compared with sugar snaps, around 20% to 30% less of the total  volume, “ said Monica from Luscious Fresh.

“Though, a positive note for this season is that we managed to start our season earlier and to lengthen it. Because of the favourable weather conditions this season for our crops and because we expanded our fields, we were able to extend our supply period. We plan to start loading peas from late March with a supply which consists of 2 small containers (20’RF) or 1 big container (40’RH) per week. In the beginning, the harvested volume will be relatively small, therefore the shipments are not that big, but after mid-April, we plan to enlarge our export amounts. April is the start of our peak season and then we can send 2 to 3 big containers per week to Europe. We can supply the European market with our peas until July.”

"The first containers will arrive in Europe in week 16 (in April) and will last until week 34 or 35 ( in August). “This is quite an important time, because it is a long period in European market where there is shortage of sugar peas or snow peas. This window is a chance for us to supply the market during that time with our high quality products. All our pea farms are under collective control, where we can guarantee to protect production efficiency as well as workers’ rights, hence this control supports our pea export to Europe going steady and stepping forward every year.”

“So far, everything is going very well, including weather conditions. We are fully ready for the upcoming program of peas orders by air and by sea. We welcome interested buyers to contact us.”
