The streets of the Valencian town of Buñol will be dyed red next 29 August with the throwing of 145,000 kilos of tomatoes in a new edition of its most internationally famous celebration: the Tomatina.
This coming Saturday (the 25th) will be the time for the children's Tomatina, in which 8,000 kilos of tomatoes will be thrown. "This connects with the work being done by the City Council to attract people to other of Buñol's events and promote the municipality as a tourist destination," said the Mayoress.
Another new feature of this edition is the launch of the "Tomatina&Go" app, designed by Socarrat Studio and created by Play&Go Experience, which in addition to offering information on the services supplied by the City Council and indicating the location of places such as the Local Police, "promotes the town as a place worth visiting and provides an agenda with the most important celebrations and events in the municipality."
Looking at the nationalities of those who have bought tickets for the Tomatina, 39.2% are Spanish; 11.77%, English; 4.63%, Americans; 3%, French, and 2.38%, Australians.
