Peru: Significant rebound in onion exports
Peruvian fresh onion exports are increasing. According to the Agrodata Peru website, during the first four months of 2018 Peru has shipped 44,369,500 kilos of this vegetable for an FOB value of US $ 14,958,090.
These figures reveal a significant rebound from the 30,634,991 kilos sent abroad in the same period of 2017 for a value of US $ 9,052,343.
Between January and April of 2018, the main buyers of Peruvian fresh onions were the United States, which accounted for 56% of all acquisitions; Spain (26%), Colombia (14%); The Netherlands and Chile, with 2% each.
In these four months, the leading onion exporting companies were Mentor Service Trade SAC, with US $ 1,606,000, Miranda Internacional SAC (US $ 1,533,000), Negocios Electroagricultural SAC (US $ 766,000), Novoliz SA (US $ 518,000), Keyperu SA (US $ 487,000) and Bland Farms - Peru SAC (US $ 424,000).
