Peru: Fresh asparagus exports continue to increase

Fresh asparagus exports continue to be a great standard bearer for Peruvian agro-export, as demonstrated by the data from the first quarter of the Agrodata Peru website, which reveals that between January and March this year, Peru exported 17.3 million kilos of this product for an FOB value of US $ 62.2 million.

These values show an interesting increase from the 12.3 million kilos that were sent abroad in the same period of 2017 for a value of US $48.3 million.

According to the same source, the United States continues to be the main destination market for the Peruvian asparagus, as sales to this market in the first quarter of 2018 amounted to US $26.7 million. It was followed by the Netherlands (US $ 15.4 million), Spain (US $ 6.3 million), and the United Kingdom with US $ 6 million.
