Wortadel and Blended Burger rewarded with prizes

Koppert Cress and GRO (Green Recycled Organics) received the FSIN Brunch Award 2018 from FSIN manager Jan-Willem Grievink on Tuesday 27 March. Koppert Cress and GRO shared first place in the election for the best dish during the FSIN Brunch Congress during the Horecava trade fair in Amsterdam on 9 January. The FSIN always invites members on the spot to let conference participants taste innovative and flavourful lunch dishes.

Among the more than 400 participating food professionals, the submissions of both companies received practically the same number of votes. Koppert Cress caused a stir with the Wortadel, a vegetable snack flavoured with cress, reminiscent of the Dutch frikandel, a mince-meat hot dog. The cress grower has now won the FSIN Award three times. Newcomer GRO pleased the food professionals with their Blended Burger, a burger consisting of beef for 50 per cent, while the other half consists of oyster mushrooms grown on coffee grounds.

Eric Miete and Robert van Kruijssen on behalf of Koppert Cress and Jan Willem Bosman and Frank van Bokhorst on behalf of GRO accepted the award given by Jan-Willem Grievink.
