At the beginning of February, HOFER expanded its assortment of fresh fruit and vegetables in Tyrol. In two-thirds of all branches - especially in urban areas - the grocer already offers up to 100 different products at the HOFER marketplace. As a reliable partner of regional agriculture, HOFER even draws nearly 40 of the 100 articles from Austria in winter, many of them directly from Tyrolean farmers. These include the farming families Norz, Müssigang and Wopfner from Thaur im Inntal, which provide seasonal vegetables all year round.
"HOFER is a long-term partner and good customer of our products. Among other things, we supply the grocer with carrots, fresh lettuce and zucchini. We are constantly in talks to intensify the cooperation and to expand into new products - partly the best organic quality for the ‘Zurück zum Ursprung’-brand,” said Stefan Müssigang, CEO of Gemüse Müssigang.
With stored vegetables such as Chinese cabbage, white cabbage or carrots, HOFER can guarantee quality from Tyrol for its customers throughout the year. Seasonally, products such as apples - like those of the Zimmermann family - are also available from the region. Thanks to long-term partnerships, HOFER can also source products far and wide from innovative Austrian producers - including herbs and some lettuces.
All markets are supplied with fruit and vegetables daily, often in record time: Austrian lettuces, for example, are harvested, packaged and delivered to the HOFER warehouse in Rietz within 24 hours.
