Pakistan: Eight fruit sellers arrested for profiteering

Late last week, district administration arrested eight fruit sellers for profiteering in the old fruit market at Sikandar Town, Peshawar. The arrests were made during the checks of various fruit shops.

During these checks, additional Assistant Commissioner Irfan Ali went in undercover and collected the rates of fruits from different shops. Afterwards, he accompanied the police officers that conducted the raids, arresting eight fruit sellers.

According to an article on urdupoint.com, members of the public who witnessed the events appreciated the action and demanded similar operations in other bazaars also. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has warned all shopkeepers to charge the retail price and avoid profiteering.
