Chinese ambassador urges Malaysian farmers to grow more durian

Last Monday, China’s new ambassador, Bai Tian, expressed the wish that Malaysia would encourage local farmers to plant different varieties of durian instead of complaining about the high prices of the “King of Fruit”.

According to thestar.com, he said Malaysians should look positively on the high demand for durian and encourage farmers to plant more of the fruit, so they can to earn more revenues. Bai said China would certainly continue to import more Malaysian products, including frozen durian, palm oil and bird nests. Furthermore, it is looking into the possibility of importing whole durian fruits from Malaysia, rather than just the flesh.
