Óscar Sumano, in charge of the supplies department at Citrofrut, pointed out that 65 percent of the fruit used for processing comes from Sinaloa, which is a producing area that is in a process of development. The State also distributes this fruit to the United States, Mexico and Central America through exports.
From late April to September, mangoes of the Tommy, Haden, Kent, Keitt, Ataulfo, Manila and Oro varieties are shipped to various companies in Mexico, while the fruit is marketed internationally all year round.
Sinaloa is one of Mexico's largest exporters of fresh fruit. In the southern part of the state, there are packers who ship it to the United States (the most important destination) in 220 kilo containers.
Sinaloan mango varieties are acquired by Citrofrut in an almost ripe condition. They are kept for three to six days in storage and then packaged for export.
