AU: Nuccio Camuglia crowned mango king at Brisbane charity auction
The annual Brisbane Produce Market Charity Mango Auction went off with a bang this morning with the season's first tray of mangoes raking in a juicy $29,000.
Nuccio Camuglia, owner of Fruity Capers in Toowong Village, Brisbane, was crowned the Mango King for 2017.
Fruity Capers is a regular supporter of local charities and after attending the annual Brisbane Produce Market Charity Mango Auction for 15 years, Mr Camuglia decided it was time to have a crack at the action himself and put in the winning bid.
"This morning isn't about me - it's about the charities that the money is going towards. I know it's a lot of money, but in my eyes it's $29,000 well spent," said Mr Camuglia.
The auction, which has become a celebrated and quintessential fundraising event for Queensland, helped raise much needed funds for Diabetes Queensland and Life Education Queensland.
