Dolf Ursem, Groentekwekerij Ursem-Zuurbier:

"Good iceberg lettuce market, but we have some making up to do"

The iceberg lettuce market is at a good level at the moment, but there is still a lot to make up for. "After a good start to the season, the market collapsed and this lasted until mid July," says Dolf Ursem of vegetable growers Ursem-Zuurbier from Heerhugowaard, connected to Everest. "Thankfully the market is reviving now."

"At the moment we have a normal supply. The prices went up a little again today. The quality is good. There are also enough kilos in general and the iceberg lettuce looks great. I'm satisfied at the moment. There won't be much produce all at once, so I hope the prices will hold tight for a while," continues the grower. "At the moment there is quite a lot of iceberg lettuce going to Southern Europe. Italy is always a good buyer."
