The first disbursement of the year, 2017, for the Honduran Project to Produce Healthy Avocado Seedlings, has been made. The project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG) through the Directorate of Agricultural Science and Technology (Dicta), with the financial support of ICDF/Taiwan, seeks to strengthen the production of approximately 105,000 avocado seedlings, destined for 500 hectares.
The disbursement was carried out at an event attended by the heads of those ministry, Jacobo Paz Bodden, and the Chinese ambassador (Taiwan) in the facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
The Honduran authorities highlighted the importance of having financial support for the Avocado Project, as it will allow strengthening the Santa Catarina Experimental Station, located in the department of Intibuca, increasing production of healthy seedlings of avocado, and increasing the surface of this crop so that Honduras can increase its avocado supply at the national level and satisfy the market's demands.
