Plátano de Canarias and Promotur collaborating in new promotion

The Association of Canary Producers' Organizations of the Canary Islands (Asprocan) and Promotur Turismo de Canarias, an entity under the Council of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Canary Islands Government, are launching a promotional campaign with the goal of promoting the Canary Islands as a tourist destination and encouraging the sale of bananas during the summer.

Under the slogan "Taste life, taste the Canary Islands", the campaign is targeted at the more than 16 million households that regularly consume Canary bananas in the Peninsula.

The action, planned and financed in equal parts by the Government of the Canary Islands and Asprocan, will have an important presence in large distribution and supermarket chains, as well as in social networks. In total, more than 7,000 points of sale across the Peninsula will distribute over six million containers under the promotion, which will end on 23 July.

Both organisations have highlighted the opportunity to repeat this collaboration after the first joint experience last year, because it highlights the possibilities of collaboration between two key economic sectors of the region in order to improve their competitiveness and create new opportunities.

With this promotion, the consumers of Canary bananas will have the chance to win a one week trip to enjoy the islands. In turn, the action seeks to encourage the consumption of bananas in a period in which the high temperatures reduce the demand for this fruit.
