California cold storage facility to help Henry Avocado grow supply chain

Henry Avocado was founded in 1925 by Charles and Florence Henry who were among the first growers to plant avocados in San Diego County.

Work has begun on a cold storage distribution center for Henry Avocado, an Escondido, Calif.-based company that will use the facility to grow its supply chain of avocados to restaurants, food distributors and grocery stores along the East Coast, according to a statement Thursday from A M King, the firm handling construction of the site.

The 25,000 square-foot facility near 4045 Perimeter West Dr., near Charlotte Douglas International Airport, will be able to distribution 1 million cartons a year of fresh avocados sourced from Mexico, California, Peru and Chile, said Phil Henry, president of Henry Avocado Corp.
