Thai durian grower arrested for selling 1.4tns of immature fruit

A durian orchard owner in the Rayong’s Wang Chan district has been arrested for selling around 1.4 tonnes of immature and prematurely-harvested fruits.

Prachuap Kruawal was arrested by police and agriculture officials while she was directing 10 workers to load the fruit on the truck of a buyer at 5pm on Wednesday.

The arrest was made after authorities found that 1.4 tonnes of the total three tonnes that had been harvested were not mature enough for sale.

She was charged with violating the consumer protection law by deceiving her buyer that the durians were ripe.
