Vegafruits acquires Clair de Lorraine to strengthen Mirabelle market share

Vegafruits, a cooperative based in Saint Nicolas de Port, a world leader in Mirabelle trading, has acquired Clair de Lorraine, a producer and distributor of regional Lorraine products. The acquisition looks to strengthen Vegafruits place in the Mirabelle market in Lorraine.

The acquisition is supported by the ILP regional fund and the agri-food and agribusiness, Unigrains, and alongside Vegafruits, the group expects to generate around 20 million euros in turnover.

In the heart of Lorraine, Vegafruits is a fruit specialist and brings together nearly 200 producers on 1,000 hectares of orchards. In 2016, Vegafruits processed nearly 7,000 tons of which 5,400 tons were Mirabelles. With a market share of 40%, the group is the leader in the production of Mirabelles. With this position, Vegafruits has developed partnerships with many manufacturers and has multiplied Innovations. Its activity is distributed 50/50 between fresh fruit and processed fruit.
