Asda releases pineapple pizza capitalizing on Iceland president's comments

After joking about his hatred for pineapple on pizza by saying he would ban the practice if he could, Iceland's president Gudni Thorlacius Johannesson made headlines and sparked heated debates on social media.

Taking advantage of the free marketing however, Asda has just announced a pineapple only pizza.

An Asda spokesman said: “Our pizza counters offer an array of pizzas which are handmade in store. President Johannesson sparked debate this week which prompted us to get our customers’ views regarding pineapple on pizza and trial our first Pure Pineapple pizza at our Asda Watford superstore.

“We look forward to seeing how the new product goes down and seeing if our customers grab a slice of the pineapple action on Friday.”
