Nigeria's CPI grows to 18.72% in January

Nigeria’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures the level of inflation, rose to 18.72 percent in January 2017. This marked a growth of 17% from 18.55% in December.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) which released Nigeria’s inflation rate today said the highest increases in price were recorded in potato, yam, other tubers and other foods.

The inflation report said the food sub index in January rose by 17.82 year-on-year from 17.39 percent in December, but “On a month-on-month basis, the Food sub-index decreased by 1.29 percent in January from the 1.33 percent recorded in December.”
