Pakistan received around $2m in import orders at Fruit Logistica

Pakistani fruit and vegetable firms and organizations at 'Fruit Logistica 2017' have received estimated import orders worth $ 2 million.

According to Waheed Ahmed, patron in chief of Pakistan Fruit and Vegetables Exporters, Importers and Merchant Association (PFVA), at least 40 delegates, including growers and exporters of 16 fruit exporting firms, had attended the mega event and displayed their products.

Waheed Ahmed, who is also Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on fruit and vegetable exports, said that the import orders were expected to increase as the response to the mega event was very encouraging. He said PFVA has been attending the show for the last seven years.

He, however, stressed that, by focusing on the production of high quality fruit and meeting international standards, India, (who were in the same show this year), had pocketed at least $15 million worth of import orders, as compared to the $2 million received by Pakistan. India produces comparatively better products.
