Peruvian fruit exports to China increased significantly in 2016

According to statistics from the General Adminstration of Customers and Taxation, the bilateral trade volume between Peru and China increased significantly in 2016, with mango exports to China shooting up by 628%. Peruvian asparagus has a huge demand in China as well, and its air shipment volume inreased by 306%. In the upcoming months, other fruits such as oranges, blueberry and custard apples may have a big market in China as well.

Recently Peru signed 18 agreements with China to improve the free trade and direct air shipment between the two countries. The deputy director of Peru Administration of Customers said: "In 2016, China has become one of the most important export destinations for Peru's fresh produce exports. Until this November, Peru's exports to China reached a value of 6.1 billion US dollars, exceeding the previous year's trade by over 20%, proving the critical importance of the Chinese market to Peru."
