Good start for Israeli herb season
"Fresh herbs enjoyed an accelerated production whereby demand seems to keep rising to new levels each week", says Omer Kamp of Arava Export Growers. "The season has started earlier than expected, which caused hastened harvesting that affected, negatively, the quality of herbs." However, the company realizes the importance of continuity and decided to take extreme steps to supervise, control and regulate supply to a satisfactory level that will meet the standards set by its technical team.
Residues
"We expect a fabulous season ahead of us but, with obstacles we plan to overcome," continues Ido Yaari of Arava. The market is by far more educated today than it was a decade ago. Therefore, the issue of MRL exceedance is no longer a suggestion or a goal but it is rather a requirement.
Currencies
"Another challenge would be the devaluation of various currencies, GBP in particular, which presents a new problem for our industry. Nonetheless, persistence is the key for success and we shall adapt to these new challenges. At the end of the day, people will continue to consume fresh produce and we must make it easier and more accessible for them."
New brand-name for dates
On a different subject, Arava has developed a new brand-name, Araba Dates – Desert Delights, to be dedicated to the marketing of fresh dates. "We are new to this but, have countless years of experience in the fresh produce industry. Therefore, we know that in order for us to compete, penetrate and become a benchmark for others, we need to provide the highest quality, offer a better service and prove to be simply superior to the competition." Therefore, a new department has been formed in the company with the single purpose of perfecting the marketing of Dates.
