October 30 to November 1st, Beijing, China

China FVF: On- track with China's produce industry

“Our ambition is to facilitate fresh produce trade from and to China. We welcome foreign exporters and buyers, domestic growers and importers to meet each other in Beijing. The exhibition is fully supported by the Chinese AQSIQ, and therefore we can offer some unique opportunities to enter the Chinese fresh produce market,” says Becky Liu, responsible for the organisation of China FVF.

The China Fruit and Vegetable Fair (China FVF) is a three day event that takes place in Beijing from October 30th to November the 1st. China FVF cooperates closely with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) to welcome foreign exporters and buyers. The organisation also wants to showcase and support domestic Chinese producers.

The event is organised around three important pillars: facilitating access for foreign products to the Chinese market and relevant AQSIQ officials, providing guidance and support for foreign buyers in China and putting Chinese products and producers on a global stage.

“China FVF has grown into a comprehensive event for the Chinese fresh produce industry. The event is an exceptional opportunity to introduce new fruit and vegetable varieties to the Chinese market. In the past year, the event has grown into a comprehensive producer and buyer event in Mainland China. This year, 14 countries that export to China will be present with a National Pavilion, including Australia, New Zealand, France, Chile, South Africa and Peru. We also welcome a large buyers delegation that includes representatives from Russia, Ukraine, Indonesia and Singapore. These delegations will be accompanied by commercial and political players. For these visitors we arrange meetings with Chinese producers of products like apples, pears, citrus, ginger, garlic and pomelo.”

Representatives from Golden Wing Mau, Pagoda, Yimutian, GagoGroup, Shanghai Ouheng, Chongqing Golden Orchard, Shandong Goodfarmer and Shenzhen Asia Global will be present.

Special entry permits
“For countries that have no established trade protocols yet for certain products, we can apply for special entry permits that allow the exhibitor to showcase the product in Beijing. This year, South African avocados, blueberries from the USA, Mexican bananas and dragon fruit from Ecuador will be shown to the public and the AQSIQ. In addition, products that have received market access and that are awaiting the last steps in the process will also be present, including Polish apples and Australian peaches.”

Introducing domestic production
“China is a large producer and exporter of a range of fresh fruits and vegetables, such as kiwifruit, pear, apple, cherries and citrus. This year, we have invited a number of large kiwi, kiwiberry, blueberry, peaches, banana and cherry growers and cooperatives. Foreign attendees that are looking to import produce from China will have the opportunity to meet with growers. To support this, we will stage a number of B2B meetings on the Friday.”

“After the show, and throughout the year, foreign buyers will have the opportunity to visit important producing regions in China. China FVF organises these trips to support importers that want to receive a better understanding of the Chinese fresh produce market. For example, this August, we will accompany sixteen companies to Sichuan province to visit local kiwi producers and cooperatives. In September, we will guide a group of Chinese buyers to Peru to visit to attend a local trade show in Lima and visit orchards.”

Conference
“Finally, throughout the three days we will hold a number of lectures on topics that are relevant to the Chinese market and Chinese production. So far, our speakers will review the domestic apple, pear, kiwifruit, banana and citrus. We have also invited one of the biggest retailers in China, who will analyse consumer purchasing behaviour in relation to the fresh produce.”
