Three out of four Norwegians eat fruit and veg every day
According to a survey carried out by Sentio Research, three out of four Norwegians eat fruit, berries or vegetables each day.
"It is very good that as many as 75 percent of Norwegians report that they eat fruit, vegetables or berries every day," stated the Director of Public Health of the Directorate of Health, Linda Granlund.
More than before
The government's most recent study on the intake of fruits, vegetables and berries in 2014, showed that 60 percent consumed such products daily. "The figures from Sentio now show that there has been an increase, which is great news if it is true," said Granlund.
The survey has also revealed that most women report that they eat fresh produce every day. It is the educated people who often eat the fruit and vegetables daily. The intake also increases with age, the figures show.
"There is a decrease in the intake of fruit and vegetables when transitioning from childhood to adolescence; this applies to a greater extent for boys than for girls. The intake increases again with age, perhaps due to becoming more conscious about healthy eating habits," concluded Granlund.
