Australia: Costa group expands its farm plantation in China

As Australia's largest grower and marketer of quality fresh fruit and vegetables, Costa supplies fresh agricultural products (mushrooms, berries, tomatoes and oranges) to local large supermarkets, including Coles, Woolworths and Aldi etc. Its blueberry plantation sales account for three quarters of the Australian market share, 90% for raspberries, nearly 50% for mushrooms, 20% for tomatoes and 15% for oranges.

Currently Costa is expanding its berry plantation business in China. According to the notice, the cooperation agreement with Driscoll of America will start to be implemented this January. Costa holds 70% of the shares of this joint company. Meanwhile, Costa's raspberry farm in Shiping county in Yunnan province was harvested at the beginning of this year. It is expected that the first complete harvest season will be between December and March in the fiscal year of 2017. Its second farm is now under construction near the border of China and Cambodia.
