Mangos are in very short supply coming out of Central America and Mexico, according to some sources in the industry. “For us, the supplies are really, really short. Peru is just finishing up, and Mexico supplies are slow to start,” explained Armando Contreras of Alday’s Produce in Los Angeles.
“In three to four weeks I expect increased mango supply from Mexico,” Contreras added.
Current prices range from $11.00 to $14.00 per flat, according to Contreras, while he added that they are getting a variety of sizes, from 6s to 10s and 14s.
Demand for the tropical fruit varies throughout the year, and as Contreras explained, everyday is different when it comes to the demand for mangos.
