Stoffels tomato dispensing machine nominated for FLIA
The expert jury from Fruit Logistica Innovation Award (the most important award for innovations in the international fruit and vegetable sector) has selected the Stoffels tomato producer as one of the ten nominated candidates. Stoffels is the only candidate from Belgium.
More sales
The product that Stoffels created is called the 'Automaat' (dispenser) and was introduced last summer in a few green grocer shops in Belgium, "These shops saw an immediate increase in the sales of cherry tomatoes after introducing the 'Automaat'. The Automaat has attracted both young and old. You can choose which cherry tomato you want, pull the handle and let the tomatoes fall into your bag," says Petra Veldman from Stoffels.
"The innovative aspect of the dispenser is not only the fun-factor. Whereas many machines are not used for soft products, the Automaat can separate soft fruits and vegetables. The dispenser also has optimal hygiene and a minimum product loss. Stoffels received the IFS label, which sets high standards for food safety. We ensure that our tomatoes meet the strict hygiene standards in stores."
Fruit Logistica Berlin
"The Automaat will be exhibited at Fruit Logistica in Berlin on Wednesday, February 3rd and Thursday, February 4th. At the trade show Stoffels will also have their own stand with the large Gusto tomatoes." The winner of the FLIA will be announced on Friday, February 5th at 2:30pm.
