Investment of 5 billion Yuan by 2020

Zhuzhou city invests in veggie industry

On September 22, Zhuzhou city revealed its plan for the development of the city’s vegetable industry up until 2020. The city wants to increase vegetable plots to an area of 72,000 hectares (1,080,000 mu) with a total estimated yearly production of 2,000,000 tons and an annual income of 5 billion Yuan.

The city has been actively increasing its investment in the vegetable industry. By the end of last year, local government had invested over 190 million Yuan in developing new vegetable cultivation bases. The 2020 plan also includes geographic divisions. Jincheng and Tanqiao counties are thought more suited to the production of high quality long beans, chillies, and cucumbers, whereas Nanyangqiao county will focus on condiment vegetables.
