Dolf Ursem, Everest growers union:

"Fine iceberg lettuce prices"

The supply of iceberg isn't too high at the moment and this is resulting in a fine price level. "The sales had been going badly for a long time, but for a week and a half now it's been going much better," says Dolf Ursem of growers union Everest. The grower doesn't expect the supply to increase any time soon.

"In the sales it's mainly the export that is doing well, but a lot is also going to the industry and the domestic supermarkets are doing reasonably too," the grower from Heerhugowaard says, satisfied. "Luckily we have a good quality iceberg lettuce at the moment. We are harvesting a royal crop with nine or ten a pieces per box."
