Construction of biogas heated greenhouses begins in SW France

Veolia and Paysans de Rougeline have formed a partnership to install 8 hectares of biogas-heated greenhouses in Lapouyade, Aquitaine. Veolia has just begun working on the site, which will be used to grow tomatoes. The new buildings will be alongside Veolia’s non-hazardous waste storage facility, which will supply the greenhouses with biogas for heating. After 8 months of works, 4 hectares of greenhouses will be up and running before tomatoes are planted next November. The works will be carried out over 2 years and cost €13 million over 5 years.
