US (GA): Eggplant at peak volumes

Production of eggplant in Georgia is at a peak for the season right now. With plenty of volume available, prices have come down over the last few weeks.

“Prices are pretty decent, not terrible,” said Eric Bolesta of Ken Corbett Farms. “I'd say they're kind of average for this time period. They came down from a few weeks ago in a kind of gradual downturn.” On June 19, prices for a carton of medium eggplants out of South Georgia were between $6.35 and $8.85.

“I'd say that in the next few days production could start slacking off,” said Bolesta. “Then volumes will decrease and prices could come up.”
