US (CA): Steady market for beets

With supplies of beets coming out of several regions in California, prices have remained steady.

“You've got supplies of beets coming out of Santa Maria, Oxnard, Salinas and Modesto,” said Geoffrey Ratto of Ratto Bros in Modesto. “So all of the typical growing regions have beets.” Supplies have matched current demand, and the market has not moved much. On June 10, prices for a carton of Red Type 12s out of California were between $9.75 and $14.45.

“Prices are right about where they were last year,” said Ratto. “Supplies have been good, the market has been good, and, for us, we don't see much change ahead.”
