German bio market increases by 5%

The organic market in Germany increased less sharply in 2014 than in 2013, German website oekolandbau.de reports. In 2014, German households spent 4.8% more money on organic food and drink. The revenue thus achieved amounted to 7.91 billion Euro, compared to 7.55 billion Euro in 2013.

Health food stores and supermarkets with a full range in particular had an above average share in the revenue increase. Both points of sale compensated for the revenue decrease with the discounters and other outlets.
