The lack of sunlight and prolonged rainfall in Huelva has significantly slowed down the province's strawberry production.
But the fact that supply volumes continue to fall is not favouring prices, but giving a greater competitive advantage to other countries.
Prices, in fact, had already dropped last week after a very positive first half of March.
"Among all products affected by the rains, the case of strawberries raises the most concerns, since Spanish strawberries have lost value in destinations such as Germany compared to the fruit from other sources, like Italy, Belgium or the Netherlands, although fortunately, the volumes from our competitors are not that large," said an exporter.
The rains are expected to stop tomorrow, although production will take some time to stabilise.
