Germany: increased mushroom production

The German mushroom producers produced around 64,000 tonnes of mushroom in 2014, according to current figures from the 'Bund Deutscher Champignon- und Kulturpilzanbauer' (BDC). 8,000 tonnes of this was meant for processing, which means that at 56,000 tonnes of fresh mushrooms, a new record amount was grown in Germany.

The production of exotic mushrooms, such as oyster mushrooms and shiitakes, was around 2,500 tonnes in 2014. The BDC also determined at the demand for regional wares increased.
