Italy: Raytec Vision at Fruit Logistica

2014 was a particularly positive year for Raytec Vision, a company specialising in the production of x-ray produce inspection machines. Cristian Sani, sales manager of the company, explained to that, "for the first time, we built over 100 inspection machines and we have reached a turnover of €12 million."

Gianluca Simonelli (export sales manager) and Cristian Sani (sales director) at Fruit Attraction 2014 in Madrid.

The company has been growing for the past two years. At the moment, 75% of the customers are made up of foreign companies. "Our customers on the domestic market work mainly in the fresh-cut salad and processed tomato sectors. Abroad, we have most of all contacts in Germany, France, Netherlands and Belgium for washing and processing table potato lines."

"In February, a company producing potato crisps will start using one of our machines. We will continue to invest in this field, as we have realised that our plants are actually quite competitive."

In the future, Raytec Vision is thinking of opening two "test rooms" in California and Beijing. "This will enable interested clients to test their products on our machines for free. In our test room in Italy, we welcome around fifty companies a year and around 90% of them decide to buy a machine once they have seen how well it works."

At Fruit Logistica, the company will present RAYFLY, an x-ray inspection machine designed to eliminate foreign objects and contaminants during the pre-selection stage of baby leaves.

"RAYFLY manages to preserve the quality of washing water and the integrity of the fresh-cut processing line while at the same time eliminating all kinds of contaminants. We also have solutions useful for companies working with unwashed salad."

"We are focused on technological development and dynamism. That is why we have employed young IT, electronics and physics experts. Their capabilities and enthusiasm will enable us to develop increasingly high-performing machines perfect for new markets. We have also hired people that know Russian - the Rouble is indeed weak, but we won't underestimate the potential of this area. There also seem to be interesting perspectives in Eastern Europe and Middle East."

Raytec Vision will take part in Fruit Logistica 2015, Hall 3.1, Stand A-03.
