Within the framework of the new programme for emergency market measures for perishable fruit and vegetables, implemented on 30 September, a total of 4,295 tonnes of fruit and vegetables will be eligible for aid in Hungary, as announced by the Ministry of Agriculture.
This includes 725 tonnes of apples and pears, 570 tonnes of plums and grapes, and an additional 3,000 tonnes set by the Union for apples, pears, plums, tomatoes, cabbage, peppers, cucumbers, cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, fresh table grapes and berries. The aid will be granted for the withdrawal, non-harvesting and green-harvesting of the crops.
The European Commission announced Tuesday that additional resources - another EUR 165 million in emergency money fund - would be invested to help fruit and vegetable growers affected by the import ban imposed by Russia.
Hungarian requests submitted until 10 September are expected to be taken into consideration.
