175 kilos of cocaine in container with bananas

During a customs inspection at a container company in the Waalhaven in Rotterdam, 175 kilos of cocaine were discovered last Friday. The drugs were hidden in a container with bananas.

Shortly before, the container had been unloaded off a seagoing vessel, having come from Colombia. Among the cargo, consisting of boxes with bananas, the packages with cocaine were hidden. The idea was probably to take these packages out of the container on the port terrain. All in all, 175 kilos were found.

The HARC team, a partnership between Customs, the Fiscal Information and Investigation Service, Seaport Police and the Public Prosecution Service, is conducting a closer investigation. The cocaine, with a street value of around 6 million Euro, has already been destroyed.
