Fancy Food Show 2014

The Costa Rican food industry seeks new business in the U.S.

The Fancy Food Show 2014 brings together 39 food businesses from all over the world to promote their products and make new business; Costa Rica will be present with eight national firms. 

The Costa Rican companies attending the fair will be Alimentos Pro Salud, Costa Rica Coffee Export, Dos Pinos, Fruta Dulce, Laica, MontaƱa Azul, Natural Sins and Rome Prince. Procomer will be accompanying these companies.

According to a press release by Procomer, the Fancy Food Show 2014 is an event that attracts over 5,000 visitors from 80 countries seeking to taste and evaluate over 260,000 gourmet foods. 

The fair was held from June 29 to July 1 in New York, United States. The national stand will be promoting the country's brand, Essential Costa Rica, and the Taste Happiness concept. 

During the event, shoppers and visitors were able to enjoy domestic products such as juices, milk drinks, pasta, coffee, tuna and fruit chips, among others. Meanwhile, exporters were able to update their knowledge and global trends around this industry and establish new business contacts. 

"The buyer that attends the Fancy Food Show is looking for new products with high added value, that follow global trends and goes hand in hand with their customers' lifestyles. That's part of what our Costa Rican products are going to give to the world," said Alvaro Piedra, Trade Promotion Manager at Procomer. 

According to data from Procomer, the Costa Rican food industry exported 1.462 million dollars to 94 destinations in 2013.
