1 in 2 people consume organic produce in France

The amount of French consuming organic produce is increasing due to all of the food scandals and products such as pesticides and chemical products being used in farming.

According to a recent survey by Agency Bio/CSA, 1 in 2 (about 49%) of French people declare buying and consuming organic products at least once a month. This percentage is increasing annually. Last year 75% declared buying organic, 2 years ago they were 65%. This is a 10% growth in 1 year.

Consumers want to ''maintain their health'' and consume ''quality products and healthy products'', and ecologists want to ''preserve the environment''.
Contrary to popular belief, organic produce is not more expensive than products from conventional farming. 2 out of 3 French have not increased their budget for organic products compared to 2013, and 1 in 6 have even reduced their budget. Organic products can be found easily in supermarkets, from producers, specialised shops or directly from the farm…..2/3 of these are not at high prices.

The most demanded products are fruit and vegetables, eggs, dairy, meat and spices.

1 in 4 French people intend to increase their consumption of organic produce between now and the end of the year.
