Italy: A drying system for fruit and veg by Turatti

Ready-to-eat fruit and vegetables need to be effectively and delicately dried after the washing phase, so as to increase their shelf-life.

"While our leaf products can be dried in spin driers, dewatering belts and tunnels, there were no other versatile and efficient system for the other types of produce. The new patented dewatering plus system by Turatti is ideal to remove excess water from tomatoes, diced tomatoes, beans, broccoli, strawberries, soft fruit, diced fruit and sliced mushrooms," explains Alessandro Turatti (in the photo), sales manager for the group.

The system is not only used to dewater produce destined to the fresh and fresh-cut industry, but also to improve the efficiency of freezing tunnels and recuperate fruit treatment liquids.

It is made up of a series of aspirators - available in several sizes - combined with a group of adjustable beaters. This way, the produce is distributed evenly on the belt.

In the model in the photo above, there are also some ventilators installed above the belt to improve the performance of the system. Our dewatering model is used to increase the shelf-life and the quality of the finished product."
