Sicilian produce on show during networking dinner in Berlin

The Regione Siciliana took opportunity to showcase quality produce from the Mediterranean island at its stand during the Fruit Logistica in Berlin. "Fresh from Sicily - A Story of Excellence", an invitation-only evening business networking dinner hosted in the heart of the city at the Italian restaurant Opera Italiana was held on Wednesday, the 5th February. Fresh from Sicily was the perfect platform for international buyers to meet Sicilian producers. This year’s event attracted several buyers representing major supermarket chains, wholesalers and importers from numerous countries, especially Germany, Eastern Europe and Russia.

Organized by the Regional Government of Sicily's Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fisheries, and Regional Agricultural Department, the third edition of "Fresh from Sicily - A Story of Excellence" provided an excellent opportunity for buyers and category managers to learn more about sourcing top quality fresh produce from Sicily. The best of Sicily’s culinary experience was presented with Sicilian wines, P.D.O. and I.G.T. products adding a distinct and traditional flavour to the networking dinner.

Bringing a new dynamic to this year’s event, guests were able to “speed date” their introductions and discussions with each other allowing for easy matches to be made between buyers and producers.
