Italy: BioOrto celebrates 10 year anniversary at Fruit Logistica

BioOrto is one of the European leaders in the production and sale of organic fruit and vegetables. It is located in the middle of the Gargano national park (Puglia) and cultivates cauliflowers, broccoli, fennel, celery, beets, red chicory, Roman cabbages, courgettes, plum tomatoes, melons, mini-watermelons and table grapes on 300 hectares of land.

The produce is then taken to a 12,000 sq m plant equipped with 7 processing lines and capable to stock up to 50,000 cubic metres.

"In 2013, our turnover increased by 30% and we are still growing. Productions have improved and we have added new products, especially abroad," explains sales manager Giulia Passalacqua. 80% of the turnover is in fact represented by exports, especially to the UK, Germany and Switzerland.

"We will present two new products at Fruit Logistica 2014 - plum tomatoes both plain and in extra virgin olive oil."

Plum tomatoes are sweeter than many other varieties (they can reach 12° Brix) and are rich in mineral salts and vitamins A and C. BioOrto organic plum tomatoes are harvested by hand and their characteristics remain unaltered, so consumers can taste them as if they had just been harvested.

BioOrto's sales office, made up of Giulia Passalacqua, Mirko Conte and Nino Jr Passalacqua, will welcome guests at Hall 4.2 - Stand B-10.
